WASHINGTON - GW gymnastics welcomes Towson, Eastern Michigan and Fisk to the Smith Center on Sunday for its second annual Rip Current Awareness Meet. The competition celebrates late program alumna Alex de Moura, who tragically passed away in a rip current in August of 2019. Since her passing, it has become a priority of the program along with the family to increase the awareness around Rip Current Safety. Action will begin at 1 p.m. in the Smith Center and will also be carried live on ESPN+.
Competing last weekend at home, GW earned a 193.400 to finish second in the tri-meet, ahead of William & Mary and behind New Hampshire. GW Revs Deana Sheremeta, Lola Montevago and Brooke Izzo led the Buff & Blue in the home performance by combining to claim each of the individual event titles with season and personal-best scores coming from each.
