KOHLER, Wis. - GW junior golfers Rodrigo Barhona and Manuel Barabachano wrapped up their campaigns this week, taking part in the annual PGA Works Collegiate Championship, held this year at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.
In a field of 24 individuals representing minority ethnicities from around the country, Barahona finished in a tie for eighth place with a 5-over 221 while Barbachano placed 11th with a 7-over 223. The duo played two rounds on Whistling Straits' Straits Course, which has hosted three PGA Championships and the 2021 Ryder Cup, as well as a single round on the Irish Course to round out the event.
Barahona opened up with a 4-over 76 on Monday and was 3-over through the first nine on Tuesday before going on a birdie binge on the back nine with five in eight holes to finish with a 2-under 70. He birdied three of the first five holes in Wednesday's final round before wrapping up with a 3-over 75.
Barbachano followed a similar trajectory as the two played in separate pairings on Monday only to end up in the same groups on Tuesday and Wednesday thanks to their similar scores. Following an opening 3-over 75, Barbachano potted five birdies in a 1-under 71 on Tuesday and connected on two in the opening five holes Wednesday, ultimately finishing with a 5-over 77.
