Rowing Ready for Final Tuneup at Women's Sprints Sunday

WASHINGTON - GW rowing will get its final chance to compete prior to this month's Atlantic 10 Championship at the prestigious Women's Sprints, held on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The Buff & Blue will take on some of the top programs on the East Coast, including fellow Atlantic 10 foes UMass and Rhode Island.
LAST TIME OUT
GW showed its might with an impressive weekend of action at the GW Invite on April 12-13. The Buff & Blue won four of five races against West Virginia, swept UC San Diego and saw its top two boats defeat Saint Mary's. The Varsity 8 was named the A-10 Boat of the Week following the event after posting a perfect 3-0 record with sub-6:30 times in each race.
ABOUT THE SPRINTS
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the women's sprints feature 26 of the top teams on the east coast competing on Sunday afternoon. The morning features two to three heats per boat, setting up the grand and petite finals in the afternoon. Last season, GW's V8 won the Petite Final of the event.
