Varsity 8 Wins A-10 Boat of the Week

WASHINGTON - GW women's rowing was honored with the Atlantic 10 Boat of the Week on Friday, bestowed up on the Varsity 8 crew following its performance at last weekend's GW Invite.
The Buff & Blue's V8 featured first-year Benedetta Bonino, sophomore Kelly Cleary, juniors Anna Golbus, Bianca Rose, Lily Sarnowski and Brianne Wieczorek, senior Mary Grace Konopka, graduate student Flannery Dunn, and sophomore coxswain Young Park throughout the strong weekend.
The Varsity 8 went a perfect 3-0 in its duals with West Virginia, UC San Diego and Saint Mary's, posting sub-6:30 times in each race. The best time came in Sunday's final matchup against Saint Mary's with the Revolutionaries crossing the finish line in a season-best 6:22.38. GW had previously topped UC San Diego by eight seconds in 6:25.95 and cruised past West Virginia by 17 seconds in 6:25.10.
GW is off from competition until the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 4, the final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday, May 17.
