RALEIGH, N.C. -Â GW rowing put itself against some of the top-ranked crews in the country on Friday and Saturday, holding its own and topping multiple crews from power conferences.
GW's Varsity 8, the reigning A-10 Boat of the Week, improved its time and ranking in each of the three rounds over the two days, shaving off four seconds from Friday morning to Saturday and pulling out head-to-head wins over West Virginia, Kansas and Villanova.
The 2V8 also showed improvement, finishing eight seconds faster on Saturday from Friday AM and beating out Villanova twice, West Virginia, Navy and Kansas across the three rounds. The crew finished fourth in two of their three rounds, marking the highest finish for a GW boat at the invite.
GW will now turn its full attention to the Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be contested on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J., on May 16.
