SHUFFLING SEEDS
GW enters the third-to-last weekend of A-10 regular-season play with the most wins in the conference at 12-5 (.706 W%), but in second place behind Dayton at 10-4 (.714 W%).
The conference standings are likely due for a makeover this weekend as each of the top six teams face off against one another. Current top-seed Dayton hosts fourth-place Fordham, while second-place GW visits fifth-place Saint Joseph's, and third-place Saint Louis is hosting sixth-place Georeg Mason.
Follow the conference standings this weekend as GW fights for seeding for the 2025 A-10 Championship, hosted by GW at the GW Softball Field on the Mount Vernon Campus, May 7-11.
REED, LAYFIELD EARN A-10 AWARDS
GW starting pitcher Anna Reed and second basemen Kaylee Layfield highlighted the A-10's weekly awards, winning A-10 Pitcher and Rookie of the Week.
Reed was crucial to GW's 4-1 week and sweep of Fordham with 21.0 IP and a 0.67 ERA over the last five games. The graduate starter ended the weekend with the league's best overall ERA (2.22), and earned NFCA national recognition as one of the top performers of the week.
Layfield concluded her week with a team-high six RBI and .444 OBP, which included a 3-4, three-RBI game against Towson. Layfield reached base in every game last week as she continued her impactful rookie season.
NEW & EXCLUSIVE 15/15 CLUB
Junior outfielder and power-batter Ashley Corpuz made history last weekend, becoming the first player in GW history to hit 15 home runs and steal 15 bases in the same season. Corpuz is just the second player in GW history to hit 15 home runs in a season, joining Jenna Cone who reached that mark three times.
