In the first, both teams played stout defense to start out, with the game remaining scoreless until the final minute of the quarter. First-year Sophia Levine would score the lone goal of the opening frame to give GW a 1-0 advantage.
The second quarter would open in favor of the Dukes, with GW getting outscored 4-2 to begin the session, but Caroline Sullivan capitalized off a free position opportunity to even it out for the Buff & Blue. The Dukes would add another, and Levine would again respond to even the game, but the Dukes added one with under a minute left in the half to take a narrow, 6-5 lead.

Starting the second half, GW got outscored 4-2 by Duquesne. Everly Kessler and Katie Fullowan each found the back of the net in the third. Heading to the final 15, the Buff & Blue trailed by three.

In the fourth, Fullowan capitalized on a free position opportunity to open scoring. Soon thereafter, Grace Curry got to work, adding two-consecutive goals to earn a hat trick and knot things up at 10 apiece. Late in the game, Duquesne capitalized on a free position opportunity to take a one-goal lead, and the Revolutionaries' offense was ultimately unable to respond, giving the home team the 11-10 victory in the conference opener.
