WASHINGTON -Â After placing eight on All-EAGL First and Second teams and finishing second in the league's regular season, GW gymnastics is set to compete for the conference title this Saturday in Philly. Hosted by Temple in the Liacouras Center, GW will be challenged by all four conference opponents beginning at 5 p.m. All the action will be captured live on both Virtius and ESPN+.
THE ROAD TO NATIONALS
Currently, GW sits at No. 41 in the Road to Nationals (RTN) rankings and will look to qualify for its first NCAA Championship berth since 2019 this weekend. The Buff & Blue currently hold an NQS score of 195.555, just 0.11 behind Central Michigan who occupies the 36th and final spot in the current standings.
ABOUNDING IN AWARDS
Capping off a stellar season, GW saw eight earn All-EAGL accolades and 14 earn slots on the All-EAGL Scholastic team. Sophomore Delaney DeHaan led the Buff & Blue with five commendations, earning a First Team selection on vault, beam, floor and the all-around, and Second Team on bars, while senior Kendall Whitman and junior Deana Sheremeta followed behind DeHaan, each earning two First Team selections and one Second Team recognition. On the scholastic side, seniors Rachel Katz, Nancy Kiner and Marlee York headlined the squad, earning their fourth-consecutive All-EAGL Scholastic team selections.Â
A GLANCE AT THE COMPETITION
The Towson Tigers, EAGL's regular season champions, occupy the 35th slot in the RTN standings and earned a perfect 4-0 conference slate in the regular season. The Buff & Blue won two of the five meetings with the Tigers throughout the regular season. Temple (52nd 194.755), New Hampshire (54th, 194.705) and LIU (65th, 192.550) will round out the field on Saturday. The GW Revs swept the three in each matchup this season and will look to capitalize on this success on Saturday afternoon.
