
Gymnastics Goes Toe-to-Toe in Dual Meet with No. 2 LSU

Baton Rouge, La. – Highlighted by a personal-best 9.900 on the beam from Deana Sheremeta, the GW gymnastics team earned a solid road score on Friday night in a dual meet with the No. 2 LSU Tigers. Despite falling to the reigning national champions in the Raising Cane's River Center, 198.125-195.475, GW competed among the nation's best for an exciting evening.

Bars: 48.725
Beginning the night on bars, first-year Lola Montevago led the way with a 9.900. Delaney DeHaan followed behind with a 9.775, while Deana Sheremeta added a 9.75 and Rachel Katz a 9.700. Sophia Tyeryar tallied a 9.600 and Zoe Safran earned an 8.725 to close the rotation.
Vault: 48.725
Matching the bars score in the second rotation, GW was led by a set of three 9.775s from leadoff Brooke Izzo, Katz and Montevago. Kasey Burke chipped in a 9.725 and Kendall Whitman added a 9.675. DeHaan completed the rotation for the Buff & Blue with a 9.125.
Floor: 49.075
GW earned its top rotation score of the night on floor, led by a pair of 9.875s from Sheremeta and DeHaan. Izzo followed closely behind, while in the first two spots, Kylie Kazmierski and Burke each registered a 9.75. In the anchor spot, Whitman earned a 9.675 to close things out for GW on floor.
Beam: 48.950
Closing the night out on the beam, Sheremeta led the GW Revs with a new career-high 9.900. Sheremeta was joined by DeHaan who checked in at a 9.800, Maya Peters (9.775), Izzo (9.750), Montevago (9.725) and Whitman (9.700). GW will return home next Sunday, March 9th, for a tri-meet with Clemson and Penn State. Action in the Smith Center is slated for 1 p.m. and will air on ESPN+.
