WASHINGTON – After opening the 2025 spring season 3-1 overall, the GW tennis team returns to action this week with two more matches. The GW Revs will first host Delaware State on Thursday at the Southeast Tennis & Learning Center for an 11:00 a.m. match, then travel to William & Mary on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. meeting with the Tribe.
Thus far in 2025, the Buff & Blue have secured wins over George Mason, Mount St. Mary's and Navy, en route to a 3-1 start to the regular season. It's the best start GW has enjoyed under Head Coach George Rodriguez and tops for the program since the 2019 season. Leading the way for the Revolutionaries are Alejandra Ramirez and Karen Verduzco, who are both 4-0 in singles play thus far. Verduzco's victories have all come from the fourth flight, while Ramirez's have come in the six-spot. Solange Skeene is also undefeated at 3-0 this season, recording her wins in flight five. Victoria Sasinka and Madison Lee have been GW's top doubles pair, boasting a 3-1 record.
Entering the week, Delaware State is 0-1 on the year, having competed in just one match this spring. The Hornets dropped their season-opener to Drexel, a narrow 4-3 defeat on Feb. 6. William & Mary will face GW, boasting an identical 3-1 record. The Tribe has enjoyed wins over Norfolk State, West Virginia and Longwood to begin the new campaign. The team's lone loss of the season came against Old Dominion, a 6-1 defeat on Feb. 6.
