WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team defeated Mount St. Mary's, 4-0, on Friday afternoon for the program's second win in as many matches to open the 2025 spring season.
Despite GW's first doubles team falling in its opening match, the Revolutionaries wouldn't be denied, bouncing back for wins in second and third doubles. Madison Lee and Victoria Sasinka dominated the opposition, rolling to a 6-0 win in second doubles, while Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene were equally as impressive, picking up a 6-2 victory in third doubles.
In singles play, Sasinka picked up right where she left off in the season opener, cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 victory from the number one spot. Karen Verduzco also tallied a win in fourth singles, nailing down a 6-4, 6-2 victory to stay unbeaten on the young season. GW's final win of the day game in sixth singles with Ramirez easily grabbing a 6-1, 6-0 dub. Although the matches went unfinished, Vaida Matuseviciute and Solange Skeene both held leads in their singles matches as well.
