WITH A WIN...
GW would surpass last year's overall (15) and A-10 (4) win total. It would also mark the first time since 2015-16 that GW has started 16-6 or better and just the 18th time in 111 years of the program.
HISTORY VS. LA SALLE
Saturday marks the 49th matchup between GW and La Salle and the first of a pair of meetings this season with the other scheduled for Saturday, March 1 at the Smith Center. GW is looking to exact revenge after the Explorers won all three meetings a year ago, including a last-minute 61-60 triumph in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship.
GW still owns a 27-21 edge in the series, but has lost four of the last five in the last two years under Coach Caputo. The Buff & Blue are looking for their first win in Philadelphia against La Salle since Jan. 16, 2019, having lost on its last two trips to the former Tom Gola Arena.
A LOOK AT THE EXPLORERS
La Salle is 3-5 in the A-10 following an 88-72 loss at home to Fordham on Wednesday. The Explorers have dropped three of four all by double digits, sandwiched around a 70-64 win over URI.
Rider transfer Corey McKeithan leads the team in scoring at 15.6 ppg and has taken the sixth-most shots in the A-10. Daeshon Shepherd and four-time A-10 Rookie of the Week Deuce Jones also average double digits with 11.4 ppg apiece.
The Explorers have played the second-fastest tempo so far in conference play, but rank 14th in offensive efficiency (0.962 ppp), 15th in 2-point percentage (43.9%) and 15th in effective field goal percentage (44.8%). La Salle has gotten 54% of its offense inside the arc, most in the A-10, and has taken the second-fewest amount of 3-pointers among league schools.
