Men's Basketball to Tip-Off Season vs. Navy, Host American

WASHINGTON - The 2026-27 GW men's basketball season will officially begin on Monday, November 2 when the Buff & Blue host the Blue & Gold of the United States Naval Academy, it was announced on Tuesday.
Also announced is a date with crosstown rival American on Wednesday, December 9, the third-straight year and fourth time in five campaigns the two teams have met.
GW and Navy will open the season on the first Monday in November in the 42nd installment of the all-time series between the programs. The Revolutionaries and Midshipmen began the 2020-21 season against one another in Annapolis and will be meeting for the first time since December 2023 when GW eked out a 79-77 overtime win.
AU will make the trip from Tenleytown in mid-December for the 50th all-time meeting between the two District combatants. GW put an end to the Eagles' three-game win streak in the series with a dominant 107-67 triumph this past November.
The two dates are the first publicly announced regular season contests of the expanded 14-game non-conference slate to be scheduled for GW this season. More information about additional matchups will be announced as it becomes available.Â
2026-27 Season Tickets for GW men's basketball are on sale now, starting as low as $125. The Revolutionaries are coming off back-to-back postseason appearances and the program's first postseason win in nine years at Utah Valley in the opening round of the NIT.Â
