WASHINGTON – Led by third-year head coach George Rodriguez, the GW tennis program opens the 2025 season on Saturday, making the short trip to battle George Mason. Match time in Fairfax is set for 6:45 p.m.
GW's 2025 roster is made up of six student-athletes, consisting of four returners and two first-years. Alejandra Ramirez headlines the group as GW's lone senior this season. The Mission, Texas, native finished the 2023-24 season with three singles wins and four doubles victories. Victoria Sasinka, Solange Skeene and Madison Lee return for their second year in Foggy Bottom after putting together solid rookie seasons. Last spring, Sasinka recorded six singles wins, all of which came in straight sets, while also adding seven doubles victories. Skeene finished the year with two singles wins and three doubles victories, while Lee notched one singles dub and three doubles triumphs.
Vaida Matuseviciute and Karen Verduzco enter their first collegiate season looking to make a big impact immediately. The pair dominated during the 2024 fall season, finishing as the 74th-rated doubles pair in the nation, according to ITA. The pair advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Championships, the deepest run for GW's program over the past six seasons.
Saturday's season opener is the first time the Buff & Blue have opened with an Atlantic 10 opponent since the 2003 season, hosting Richmond that year. Follow GWsports.com for up-to-date info on all matches this season.
