
Gymnastics Hosts Annual Lindsey Ferris Invitational

WASHINGTON -Â After starting its season on the road, the GW gymnastics team will play host to Yale, Fisk and Penn this Sunday in the Smith Center for the annual Lindsey Ferris Invitational. The meet, hosted annually by GW, commemorates gymnastics alumna, Lindsey Ferris. Ferris was a four-year performer on the gymnastics team and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in communication in 2001 before serving as a Presidential Administrative Fellow (PAF) while earning her master's degree in forensic science in 2003. Following graduation, she achieved great success by becoming a Special Agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations before her untimely passing. In its dual with the North Carolina Tar Heels, GW registered a 194.525, falling to the host Heels who scored a 195.800. The Buff & Blue edged out North Carolina on two of the four rotations, earning an impressive 49.025 on vault and a 48.950 on beam. On floor, GW also earned an even 49.000. Rachel Katz and Delaney DeHaan earned co-champion honors on vault with scores of 9.850, and DeHaan claimed the beam title with a 9.875. Following Katz's performance on vault and a 9.775 on bars, she was named EAGL Co-Specialist of the week on Wednesday. Heading to Sunday, GW currently sits at No. 39 on Road to Nationals' standings.

DEHAAN CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
Delaney DeHaan earned her second all-around collegiate title at UNC, the second in as many meets for the standout sophomore. This is DeHaan's first collegiate season competing on both vault and floor for GW, and she has already earned scores of 9.850 on both events, in addition to earning a new personal-best 9.875 on beam last weekend. Â
ON THE OPPONENTS
The Yale Bulldogs arrive to the District fresh off a quad meet with Penn in which the Bulldogs earned a 191.500, good for a third-place finish in the quad. Yale tallied a 193.700 to win its first meet of the season against Cornell and Bridgeport. The Penn Quakers took second in its quad meet, registering a 193.225. Fisk arrives to the Smith Center following a tri-meet at Western Michigan, in which the Bulldogs earned a 187.450 to finish third behind the host Broncos and the New Hampshire Wildcats.Â
