Alexa Williams advancing to Academic All-American consideration
GREENWOOD, IN - The George Washington University softball team had five players named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) softball Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday. The CSC named Maggie Greco, Ashley Corpuz, Allison Heffley, Alena Ramirez and Alexa Williams to the Academic All-District Team, while also announcing that Williams will be entered into Academic All-American voting, where she will look to become GW's first Academic All-American since Jenna Cone and Faith Weber were named to the second team in 2021.Â
It is the second consecutive year that Greco, Heffley (at Harvard) and Ramirez have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, while it is the first time that Williams and Corpuz have earned the distinction.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 18.
