WASHINGTON – Following a lights-out performance last weekend at Saint Joseph's, Michael Foltz has been named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season. Foltz joins Teddy Brennan and Graham Jeffries as the third Revolutionary to earn the honor, and the fifth member of GW's team to earn a weekly award after Robbie Lavey and Nick Mullen were both named Rookie of the Week earlier this season as well.
Foltz, who started in game one of GW's Friday doubleheader at Saint Joseph's, had arguably his best appearance of the season. He tossed 7.2 innings, his longest outing of the year, and struck out eight batters. Foltz didn't allow an earned run, giving up just five hits in the contest. The outing was Foltz's fifth in which he pitched at least seven innings and the second in a row including GW's 3-2 win over UMass on Senior Day.
Despite the stellar showing, the game would go down as a no-decision for Foltz in the record books. GW would eventually go on to win 4-1, tallying three runs in the ninth inning to seal the victory. The win was significant for GW as it clinched a spot in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship tournament. Foltz and the Revolutionaries begin the postseason on Tuesday, facing off against Richmond at 11:00 a.m. at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va.
