Golf Sits in Fourth After Opening Round of A-10 Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. -Â Buoyed by a pair of 1-under 71s, GW golf finds itself in a familiar spot at the Atlantic 10 Championship through 18 holes, currently in fourth place with a 2-over 290 at the Grand Cypress Course at the Evermore Resort.
Rodrigo Barahona and Jed Dy are tied for seventh with the 71s, just three shots off the individual lead. Barahona bogeyed the opening hole but then posted a clean card the rest of the way with a pair of birdies on the 2nd and 13th holes. Dy overcame a double bogey on the 10th to eagle the par-5 13th and birdied 17 to get into red figures.
Hugo Riboud turned his round around with a 2-under back nine to card a 1-over 73 to sit in a tie for 15th after one round. Jakub Hrinda and Manuel Barbachano each shot a 3-over 75 with Hrinda at one point tallying four straight birdies on the back nine to get back into a tie for 27th.
VCU leads the competition with an 11-under 277, 11 shots clear of Dayton and Davidson, who each shot even-par 288s.
The Buff & Blue will be back on the course for the second round on Saturday morning with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
