WASHINGTON - GW women's rowing is set to begin its Atlantic 10 Championship defense with the opener of its spring season on Sunday at the George's Cup, hosted by George Mason.

OFFSEASON TRAINING

GW opened up its spring training with a trip to Austin, Texas back in January, and most recently took a spring break trip to Lake Lure in North Carolina for a week of spirited practice and camaraderie. The GW Revs put in a lot of meters during the week practicing twice a day while also competing in an unofficial scrimmage vs. West Virginia and topping the Mountaineers.

The trip also served as an opportunity to finalize boat lineups, according to first-year head coach Paul Allbright, with an emphasis on racing starts. GEORGE'S CUP HISTORY

Sunday marks the annual matchup between Georgetown, George Mason and GW. The Buff & Blue swept the regatta last year, winning all four events. The Buff & Blue have now won the George's Cup in seven of the 12 all-time matchups.

Also on the line will be the Class of 1998 Cup, which is contested every year between the GW and Georgetown V8 boats. By virtue of its triumph last year, GW has a slim 10-9 edge in the all-time matchup.
