WASHINGTON – Following a stellar showing at Presbyterian last Saturday, junior Teddy Brennan has been named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season. Brennan becomes the second member of the Buff & Blue to earn a baseball weekly award after first-year Robbie Lavey was tabbed the conference's Co-Rookie of the Week last Tuesday.
Brennan, who earned the start in GW's second of three games in a weekend series at Presbyterian, dazzled with arguably his best showing of the season. Brennan tossed seven innings and only allowed one hit in the contest. He sat down the first 11 batters he faced en route to retiring 19 of the 23 he dueled on the day. The only four to reach base successfully were the lone hit he allowed, one walk, one hit by pitch and one reaching safely via an error. Brennan also recorded nine strikeouts, his second-highest total of the year.
Despite the fantastic performance, Brennan didn't earn the win. GW eventually secured the victory in the 11th inning, winning 3-0 and eventually sweeping Presbyterian in all three contests. Brennan's performance was one of three outstanding starts for GW last weekend. On Friday night, Michael Foltz tossed seven innings and only allowed two hits, while Graham Jeffries pitched six hitless innings on Sunday to secure the sweep.
This season, Brennan is 1-1 with a 2.93 ERA in 27.2 innings. He has 31 strikeouts, averaging 6.2 per start. The Revolutionaries are 11-8 this season and continue the non-conference slate with two mid-week matchups beginning on Tuesday. The GW Revs host Delaware at Tucker Field for a 2:30 p.m. meeting, then travel to Towson on Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m. game. This weekend, GW welcomes Canisius to The Tuck for a three-game set starting on Friday.
