Gymnastics Finishes Second at Maryland Quad Meet

Whitman and Zois place first on floor and beam
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – GW gymnastics scored a 195.675 at the Maryland Quad Meet on Friday in a second-place finish. Host Maryland came in first with a score of 196.300. Central Michigan came in third with a score of 195.450, while William & Mary finished in fourth with a score of 193.200.
GW scored a 48.075 on bars, a 49.175 on beam, 49.175 on floor and a 49.250 on vault.
Kendall Whitman took first place on floor out of all performers with a score of 9.925. Sarah Zois placed first on vault with a 9.900. Maya Peters tied for first place on beam with a score of 9.925. Delaney DeHaan placed first on bars with a score of 9.750.
ROTATION ONE: BARS (48.075)
Following DeHaan's 9.750, Rachel Katz added a score of 9.725. Anneliese Silverman scored a 9.575. Sophia Tyeryar posted a score of 9.525, Whitman added a 9.500 and Peters finished out the rotation with an 8.825.
ROTATION TWO: BEAM (49.175)
Peters matched her career-high and tied for first with a 9.925. Silverman scored a 9.850. Whitman and Nancy Kiner each added a 9.825. Zois posted a 9.750, and Brooke Izzo rounded out the rotation with a score of 9.650.
ROTATION THREE: FLOOR (49.175)
Whitman placed first with a 9.925. Deana Sheremeta scored a 9.850. Silverman, Kasey Burke and Payton Lynch each added a 9.800. Marlee York ended the rotation with a 9.775.
ROTATION FOUR: VAULT (49.250)
Zois placed first with a 9.900. Burke posted a 9.875. Katz added a 9.850. Whitman scored a 9.825, Silverman scored a 9.800, and York ended the rotation with a 9.775.

GW gymnastics travels to Baton Rouge, La., for the Podium Challenge for a quad meet against host LSU, Auburn and Texas Woman's on Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. CT.
