GW men’s program has now won seven of the last eight conference championships
HAMPTON, Va. - Excellence on the East Coast.
The George Washington University men's swimming and diving team won the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship, clinching the victory on Saturday night. GW finished with a final score of 844, 388.5 better than UMass' second-place result (455.5). GW has now won four consecutive conference titles, and seven titles in the last eight years.
Between both the men's and women's teams, GW recorded 17 A-10-record performances, 27 program-record performances and won gold in 26 events. GW won all ten relays - the first team ever to do so - establishing new conference records in seven of the ten and new program records in eight of ten.
Junior Connor Rodgers won a share of the Most Outstanding Male Performer (along with Davidson's Dylan Felt) after his stellar week. Rodgers earned 60 points for the Buff & Blue's cause - a gold medal in each event he swam - including in the 200-yard IM, 400-yard IM, 200-yard butterfly, 800-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.
Head Coach Brian Thomas earned his seventh and eighth A-10 Coach of the Year awards as he was named the conference's best coach on both the men's and women's sides for the third-straight season.
SATURDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS

GW won gold in the 400-yard freestyle relay and closed out the meet with an A-10 and program record (2:53.25), swam by Toni Dragoja, Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan, Djurdje Matic and Rodgers.

Dragoja broke the A-10 and program record for the 100-yard freestyle with a 43.01 in prelims, before breaking the record again in his gold medal performance in the finals (42.71).

Connor Rodgers won the gold medal and set a new A-10 record in the 200-yard butterfly (1:44.36). Justin Dostal also landed on the podium, finishing in third place (1:45.43). Both had NCAA B-cut times.

Newcomer Ralf Roose broke the A-10 and program record in the 200-yard breaststroke (1:56.12) during his gold medal swim in Saturday's finals. The swim was an NCAA B-cut.

In the 1,650-yard freestyle, Misha Lyubavskiy powered through to finish in third place with an NCAA B-cut time (15:22.75).
