WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's soccer team returns to The Vern for its penultimate home match against Richmond on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. for this season's Pink Match.
LAST TIME OUT
GW enters the week well-rested after having seven days off between matches. Last Sunday, the Revolutionaries traveled north to Philly, facing a La Salle squad that hadn't lost in nearly three weeks. The Explorers defended home field, scoring three goals in the first half to propel themselves to victory. GW's second half approach yielded much better results as first-year Selah Koleth netted GW's lone goal in the 56th minute. The Buff & Blue held La Salle off the scoreboard in the final 45 minutes but couldn't find enough offense to make a run at a comeback.
PINK MATCH
Sunday's match against the Spiders will serve as this season's Pink Match for the Revolutionaries. All fans in attendance are encouraged to wear pink in support of those affected by cancer.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
Richmond enters the weekend 3-7-2 overall and 1-4 in conference action after falling to Loyola Chicago last Sunday, 1-0. The Spiders are currently riding a four-match losing streak which dates back to Sept. 19. The program is led by Head Coach Adam Denton, who's in his second season. Denton led Richmond to a 3-11-4 record last year and finished 1-8-1 in A-10 action.
On the field, Richmond's offense is paced by Kelly Hotton, who's the only member of the team with multiple goals on the year. Hutton has two scores and one assist, making up a team-best five points on the year. She's also tallied a program-best 14 shots and six shots on goal. Five other Spiders have each tallied a goal this season, giving the team seven on the season. Defensively, McKenna Dalfonso has played every minute this year in net. She's recorded 62 saves and has a save percentage of 76.5%. Her goals-allowed average sits at 1.58.
