Women’s Soccer Eyes Road Tests at Howard, Towson

Following a 1-1 week to open the 2026 season, the George Washington women's soccer team shifts its focus to two road matchups at Howard and Towson. Wednesday's battle with the Bison is set for 7:00 p.m. on NEC Front Row, while Sunday's 6:00 p.m. match with the Tigers will be carried live on FloCollege.
Kalia Kau led the GW offense through the first week of the season, registering two goals within five minutes of game time in the Buff & Blue's 4-0 win over Temple in the season-opener. Naomi Kim finished the week with one goal and one assist, while goalkeeper Jasmine Black registered eight saves in 180 minutes of action.

After being idle the first week of the season, Howard welcomes GW across the district for the Bison's season opener on Wednesday night. Howard comes off a 9-7-3 season in 2025 when it finished 5-2-2 at home and 7-2-2 in the Northeast Conference. The Bison ultimately fell to Wagner, 3-2, in the opening round of the NEC Tournament, conceding a goal in the 105th minute during overtime.
Demi Owens returns for her junior season with Howard after registering four goals and one assist a season ago. Asia Mickens-Perez tallied four goals last season, while goalkeeper Trinity Knox comes off a junior season that saw her tally 68 saves and a save percentage of .800. After the Tigers' season-opener was postponed due to inclement weather last Sunday, Towson traveled to Mount St. Mary's on Monday and handed The Mount a 2-0 defeat to kick off the 2026 season. Towson used goals in the sixth and 18th minutes to take an early advantage and never looked back. Kale'a Perry tallied the opening score on a penalty kick, while Meron Koro doubled the Tigers' advantage on an unassisted goal. Goalkeeper Teagan Gardner faced one shot on target all night, saving the chance to preserve the clean sheet. Prior to hosting GW this weekend, Towson travels to St. John's on Thursday for a 4:00 p.m. matchup in Queens.
Perry, a graduate student, led the Tiger offense a year ago, posting eight goals and six assists for a total of 22 points. Sophia Thibeault was just behind her with seven goals and four assists in 2025 and returns for her senior season this year. Garner spent all 16 matches in goal last year, tallying 56 saves and a .691 save percentage. Towson's updated 2026 team statistics can be found here.
