Women’s Soccer Secures 2-1 Victory in Pink Match

WASHINGTON – First-year Julia Bilal's first career goal lifted the George Washington women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Richmond on Sunday afternoon. The Revolutionaries improve to 4-7-3 on the season and move to 2-3-1 in Atlantic 10 action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 2nd Minute: Lauren Prentice capitalized on GW's first chance of the match, taking a lead pass from Amelia Booth and registering the score. The goal was GW's quickest in a match this season and was Prentice's third of the year.
- 26th Minute: Kiley Fitzgerald recorded the equalizer for the Spiders midway through the first half, scoring off a dish from Brigitte Bussiere. Fitzgerald now has two goals on the season.
- 53rd Minute: After being awarded a corner kick early in the second half, GW's Alicia Window sent the ball into a mob of players in front of the net. Bilal rose up, connecting with a header that slotted past the Spiders' keeper for the goal. Bilal's first career goal proved to be the game-winner as GW's defense held Richmond off the scoreboard for the remainder of the match.
NOTEWORTHY
- In a game that featured limited chances, GW finished with a 10-8 lead in shots and a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. Booth, Elizabeth Cruz and Isabel Kelly each tallied two shots apiece to lead the Buff & Blue.
- GW's Ainsley Lumpe made a return to the lineup and was solid with two saves on the day. McKenna Dalfonso also played all 90 for the Spiders, recording four saves on the day.
- The Revolutionaries tallied a slim 6-5 advantage in corner kicks on the afternoon, while Richmond finished with a 9-8 lead in fouls.
- Richmond's Logan Jackson and Sofia Mancino were each issued a yellow card in the match.
