Behind two goals from junior Kalia Kau, the George Washington women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 shutout win over Temple on Wednesday afternoon. The win extends GW's unbeaten streak in season openers to five consecutive, dating back to the 2021 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

24^th Minute: GW's Julia Bilal opened the match's scoring, heading in a cross to the bottom left corner of the goal. The play was set up by Naomi Kim, who played a free kick into the corner. Rose Vigran then crossed the ball into the box where Bilal connected on the header to score.
38^th Minute: Kau doubled GW's advantage later in the first half, using a left-footed shot to pierce the upper-90 on the left side of the goal. After getting past a Temple defender in the box, Kau laced a shot past the leaping keeper into the net.
41^st Minute: Three minutes later, first-year Ella Provost-Heron played a ball in front of the net that drew Temple's keeper away from the net. The pass got through and allowed Kau an easy tap-in goal, her second of the day. The assist went to Provost-Heron, her first collegiate point.
69^th Minute: A first-year connection of Provost-Heron and McKenna Wickman put the finishing touches on the scoring midway through the second half. On a breakaway, Provost-Heron fed a pass across the box, allowing Wickman a one-on-one with the keeper at the net. Her shot glanced off the GK's hand, but it wasn't enough to redirect the ball as it trickled into the back of the net.

NOTEWORTHY

GW finished with a 12-9 advantage in shots, including a 7-5 lead in shots on goal.
Sophomore Jasmine Black earned the shutout in net, tallying four saves in the process. The win is the second of her young career.
GW tallied a decisive advantage in corner kicks at 9-2, while Temple finished with a 12-10 lead in total fouls. GW's Lucy Stenning (50^th minute) and Caroline Donmoyer (70^th minute) were both issued yellow cards in the match.
