Gymnastics Finishes Third in Next Level Gymnastics Podium Challenge

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – GW gymnastics scored a 193.475 at the Next Level Podium Challenge on Saturday as part of a third-place finish behind Illinois State, who scored a 195.900. Western Michigan came in first with a score of 196.125.

GW scored a 48.600 on beam, a 48.900 on floor, 49.025 on vault and a 46.950 on bars.

Kendall Whitman tied for first out of all performers with a 9.900 on vault. Anneliese Silverman took first place on bars with a score of 9.775. Newcomer Brooke Izzo and Deana Sheremeta tied for first on beam with a score of 9.750. Whitman paced the floor rotation for the third meet in a row with a score of 9.900.

ROTATION ONE: BEAM (48.600)

Following Brooke Izzo and Deana Sheremeta's 9.750s, Sarah Zois scored a 9.725. Kendall Whitman scored a 9.700. Maya Peters scored a 9.675, and Anneliese Silverman ended the rotation with a 8.850.

ROTATION TWO: FLOOR (48.900)

Whitman led the floor rotation for the third meet in a row with a 9.900. Sarah Zois and Deana Sheremeta each followed with a score of 9.775. Marlee York and Payton Lynch both scored 9.725s. Kasey Burke finished the rotation with a score of 9.600.

ROTATION THREE: VAULT (49.025)

Following Whitman's 9.900, Kasey Burke scored a 9.825. Anneliese Silverman added a 9.800. Sarah Zois scored a 9.775. Marlee York and Rachel Katz finished out the rotation with a pair of 9.725s.

ROTATION FOUR: BARS (46.950)

Anneliese Silverman led the rotation with a 9.775. Rachel Katz scored a 9.725. Delaney DeHaan added a score of 9.675. Maya Peters scored a 9.000. Sophia Tyeryar and Madi McMullen ended the rotation with a pair of 8.775s.

UP NEXT

GW gymnastics makes the trip to Towson, Md. on Friday, Jan. 26 to face off against EAGL opponents LIU, UNH and the host Tigers, alongside Cornell at 6 p.m.
