Gymnastics Finishes Third at Chelli Calloway Invitational

Kendall Whitman wins All-Around; Brooke Izzo placed first overall on beam with a 9.850
TOWSON, Md. – GW gymnastics scored a 194.400 at the Chelli Calloway Invitational on Friday as part of a third-place finish behind UNH, who scored a 194.475. Host Towson came in first with a score of 195.475, while Cornell finished in fourth with a score of 192.825.
GW scored a 47.100 on bars, a 48.625 on beam, 49.225 on floor and a 49.300 on vault.
Kendall Whitman placed first overall in the all-around with a score of 39.200. Anneliese Silverman took first place on bars with a score of 9.775. First-year Brooke Izzo placed first out of all performers on beam with a career-high score of 9.850. Whitman and Kasey Burke paced the floor rotation and tied for second overall with scores of 9.900. Sarah Zois placed first on vault with a score of 9.925.
ROTATION ONE: BARS (47.100)
Anneliese Silverman led the bar rotation with a score of 9.775. Delaney DeHaan added a score of 9.700. Kendall Whitman scored a 9.650. Rachel Katz posted a 9.000, Marlee York scored an 8.975 and Sophia Tyeryar ended the rotation with a 8.300.
ROTATION TWO: BEAM (48.625)
First-year Brooke Izzo set a career high 9.850 score on beam. Kendall Whitman and Sarah Zois each added a score of 9.775. Maya Peters posted a 9.750. Delaney DeHaan scored a 9.625, and Anneliese Silverman finished out the rotation with a score of 9.500.Â
ROTATION THREE: FLOOR (49.225)
Kendall Whitman and Kasey Burke tied for second out of all performers, each with a score of 9.900. Marlee York and Payton Lynch each added a score of 9.825. Deana Sheremeta added a score of 9.775Â and Sarah Zois rounded out the rotation with a score of 9.750.
ROTATION FOUR: VAULT (49.300)
Following Zois' 9.925, Kendall Whitman added a score of 9.875. Anneliese Silverman and Kasey Burke each added a score of 9.850. Marlee York and Rachel Katz posted scores of 9.800.

The GW gymnastics team will go into a double-meet weekend, and will return to Towson, Md. on Friday, Feb. 2 to face off against the host Tigers, W&M, alongside Penn at 6 p.m. They will then travel to EAGL opponent LIU in Brookville, N.Y., for a dual meet on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m.
