Volleyball Heads to Eagle Invitational, Hosted by Georgia Southern

WASHINGTON – GW volleyball heads to Statesboro, Ga., this weekend, taking part in the Eagle Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern with Stetson and College of Charleston. GW will play the host Eagles on Friday at 10 a.m., followed by a 4 p.m. match vs. Stetson. The Buff & Blue close the weekend with a 10 a.m. first serve vs. College of Charleston on Saturday.
OPENING WEEKEND REWIND
GW dropped its first pair of matches to American and Howard last weekend. Graduate student Grace Wiczek made an immediate impact in her GW debut, tallying 18 kills across the weekend, including a team-leading eight in the season opener at American. Brittany Myers put down 13 kills with a .257 hitting percentage in GW's five-set match at Howard on Saturday. Salem Yohannes recorded her first double-double of the season, tallying 12 kills and 12 digs vs. the Bison.
ACROSS THE NET
The host Eagles are 2-0 on the young season after topping East Carolina and UNCG last weekend in the Bash in the Boro. First-year outside hitter Reagan Barth leads the Georgia Southern offense with 20 kills.
After going 2-1 in opening weekend, Stetson's Anabelle Standish and Sophia Groom earned All-Tournament Team recognition. Standish led the team with 43 kills over three matches. Groom led the Hatters with 17 blocks and 34 kills across the weekend.
College of Charleston is 1-2 on the season, with junior Anna Smith leading the team with 38 kills and Lexi Wierzbicki with 35. Wierzbicki was named to the All-CAA Preseason Team.
