Greco Selected to Second Team All-Conference, Cano and Corpuz Earn All-Rookie Nods

Buff and Blue secure three Atlantic 10 Postseason Awards
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW softball third baseman Maggie Greco has been selected as the third basemen on the Atlantic 10 Second Team All-Conference, while pitcher/utility Rose Cano and outfielder Ashley Corpuz were named to the All-Rookie Team, the conference announced Wednesday.Â
Greco was named Second Team All-Conference after starting all 45 games for GW at third base. In A-10 play, Greco finished tied for first in the conference with eight doubles and had the seventh-highest OPS in the conference (1.035). Greco owned GW's highest batting average in conference play (.351), and was also the team's overall OPS leader (.844). Greco also had a team-high 25 walks and was sixth in the conference with .56 walks per game.
Cano was selected to the All-Rookie Team after impressing in her first year both on the mound and at bat. Cano led GW's pitching efforts this season and was eighth in the A-10 with a 2.81 ERA. The first-year finished with 14 wins - third best all-time for a GW rookie pitcher and 7th best from any GW pitcher in a single season. The Long Beach, Calif., native also owned GW's second-best batting average (.287) and finished tied for second on GW with eight doubles.
Corpuz got the All-Rookie nod after putting her power on display in her first year. The Ladera Ranch, Calif., native was first on GW with 13 doubles and was just three doubles away from tying the GW rookie doubles record. Corpuz started every game for GW in left field and finished with a .968 fielding percentage. Corpuz finished second in the A-10 and 67th in the NCAA with .29 doubles per game.Â
