Golf in Fifth After First Round at A-10s

Hrinda and Dy shoot even-par 72 to pace GW
KISSIMMEE, Fla. -Â GW golf opened up its chase for an Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday with a 5-over 293 on the Nicklaus Course at the Reunion Resort.
GW sits in fifth place, nine shots off the pace of first-place Davidson, which shot a 4-under 284. The Wildcats are the lone team under par with VCU (E, 288), Loyola Chicago (+1, 289) and Rhode Island (+4, 292) rounding out the top five.
Individually, Jakub Hrinda and Jed Dy paced the Buff & Blue with even-par 72s. Hrinda was consistent throughout the day with a tournament-leading 14 pars in addition to two birdies and two bogeys. Dy carded four birdies on the day, including the par-5 18th to close on a positive note.
GW finished strong on the back nine with Dy, Rodrigo Barahona and Manuel Barbachano each birdieing the 18th. Dy, Barbachano and Hugo Riboud all shot under par on the final nine holes.
The tournament continues on Saturday with 18 more holes with tee times between 7:30 and 9 a.m.
