Softball Falls to Bonnies, Game Two Postponed due to Weather

Games Two and Three to be played as a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday following Senior Day celebration
WASHINGTON - GW softball fell in Game One to St. Bonaventure, 4-3, ahead of Game Two being postponed due to inclement weather. Games Two and Three will be played as a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday following a pregame Senior Day celebration. Both games of tomorrow's doubleheader will be available for streaming on ESPN+.Â
The Buff and Blue fell in Game One after the Bonnies rallied for all four of their runs in the seventh inning. Rose Cano pitched a complete game for GW and was pitching a three-hit shutout heading into the final frame, but a St. Bonaventure solo home run to leadoff the seventh inning ignited its late four-run rally.
Alena Ramirez had a game-high two RBI for GW, both of which came with the bases juiced in the second inning. Ramirez reached on an error by the second baseman and knocked in the first two runs of the afternoon which gave GW a two-run lead early on.
Arizona Ritchie added GW's third run in the fourth inning with a sharply hit ball down the left-field line for an RBI double, which brought home Gabby Polsky from second.
After the Bonnies' rally, the Buff and Blue looked to even the score in the last of the seventh. Ritchie led off the inning with a walk, but after making her way to third via a sac bunt and fly out, the Bonnies recorded the game's final out.Â
GW returns tomorrow for Senior Day at the GW Softball Field, which all starts with a Senior Day celebration ahead of the 11 a.m. first pitch.Â
