GW to celebrate four graduating seniors in Friday quad meet
WASHINGTON – GW gymnastics will close out the regular season with a pair of meets, starting on Friday at 7 p.m. with a quad meet for Senior Day with Maryland, Towson and William & Mary. GW will head to Maryland on Sunday for a noon start with the Terps, Temple, Towson and Yale. Friday's meet will be available on ESPN+ with Christina Chauvenet on the call and Sunday will have live coverage on Big Ten Network+.
LAST TIME OUTÂ
Highlighted by a program record-tying 49.200 on bars, GW finished with a 195.125 at the Podium Challenge in Baton Rouge, La., last Friday. Deja Chambliss and Libby Garfoot each earned personal bests on bars with matching 9.925s. In addition, Chambliss earned the beam title in the quad meet with a career-high matching 9.925, helping to a season-high 39.500 in the all-around.
SENIOR DAYÂ
GW will celebrate Deja Chambliss, Libby Garfoot, Hannah Munnelly and Nora Houseman following the meet on Friday. All members of the 2022 EAGL Championship team, these four seniors have accounted for an EAGL Championship, 14 All-EAGL Scholastic Team honors and 16 WCGA Academic awards.Â
IN THE RECORD BOOKS
GW equaled the program record on bars for the third time and first time since 2020, totaling a 49.200 on the event. Chambliss and Garfoot's 9.925s on the event tied for third in the GW record book, a mark set by Devin McCalla in 1999. It was Chambliss' first 9.900+ on the event in her career and with the personal best, Chambliss is now among the top five in all four events and the all-around in GW's record book. Garfoot also penned her name in the record book with a then-career-high 9.900 on bars, good enough for fifth overall.Â
THE CHAMPIONSHIP STAGE
Following this weekend's pair of meets, GW will make the trip to New Hampshire for EAGL Championships on Saturday, March 18, with sessions at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., determined by final EAGL standings.Â
