
Gymnastics Finishes Sixth at 2023 EAGL Championship

Chambliss and Zois named co-champions on vault
DURHAM, N.H. – GW gymnastics concluded its season with a sixth-place finish with a 194.525 at the 2023 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship on Saturday, hosted by New Hampshire.
Towson was crowned the 2023 Champions with a 196.500, followed by N.C. State (196.425), North Carolina (196.350), New Hampshire (195.400), Temple (194.925), George Washington (194.525), LIU (194.275) and Pitt (194.225).
Deja Chambliss and Sarah Zois were named vault champions with a pair of 9.900s, a career-high for Zois. It's the second straight year that Chambliss has won the EAGL vault title, winning in 2022 with a 9.875.
Chambliss also placed in a three-way tie for first on floor with a 9.900.
ROTATION ONE – BEAM (48.650)
GW began the afternoon on beam led by Chambliss with a 9.850. Kendall Whitman and Anneliese Silverman added 9.775s, Zois added a 9.700, Marlee York scored a 9.550 and Rachel Katz finished the beam lineup with 9.050.
ROTATION TWO – FLOOR (48.850)
The Buff & Blue moved to floor for their second rotation, led by Chambliss with a 9.900 and Deana Sheremeta with a 9.800. York added a 9.750 and Payton Lynch and Silverman posted a pair of 9.700s. Whitman completed the rotation with a 9.350.
ROTATION THREE – VAULT (49.025)
Chambliss and Zois led the vault rotation with their 9.900s. Whitman added a 9.775, Katz posted a 9.750, Hannah Munnelly added a 9.700 and York posted a 9.625.
ROTATION FOUR – BARS (48.000)
GW finished the day on bars, led by Libby Garfoot, with a 9.825. Munnelly posted a 9.725, Nora Houseman added a career-best 9.650, Chambliss scored a 9.525, Silverman a 9.275 and Katz a 9.225.
