Gymnastics Heads West to Denver

GW set for Sunday quad meet at Magness Arena
WASHINGTON – GW gymnastics will visit the University of Denver for a quad meet with Pitt and Air Force on Sunday at 4 p.m. EST from Magness Arena.
LAST TIME OUT
GW hit a new season-high in its second-place finish at Towson on Wednesday night, recording a 195.550 powered by season-bests on vault, beam and floor.
CHAMBLISS KEEPS SHINING
At Towson, Deja Chambliss topped the podium with a season-high performance in the all-around with a 39.325. Chambliss also earned the vault title with a 9.875, her third, first-place finish on the event this season. Chambliss has led GW on the event in each of the team's four meets and has not recorded a vault score below 9.850 dating back to Feb. 21, 2022. Chambliss continues to lead the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) on vault, boasting a 9.875 average.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Denver is ranked eighth overall and checks in at No. 8 on vault, bars and beam and 20th nationally on floor. The Pioneers' Kiley Rorich was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after the first-year tied the program record for the highest bars score by a DU first-year in her collegiate debut, scoring a 9.900 on the event.
Pittsburgh's Hallie Copperwheat enters the weekend as reigning EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the second-consecutive week. The Panthers' Sidney Washington leads EAGL on floor, averaging a 9.887 overall.
Air Force is first on floor in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, averaging a 48.783 on the event. Air Force sits third overall in the league with a 193.692 average score. The Falcons recently posted a season-high on bars with a 48.475 and will compete at home on Friday before heading to Denver on Sunday.
