GW to honor 2022 Hall of Fame Class, Men's Basketball Alumni on Saturday
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball returns to the Charles E. Smith Center, where it is 9-3 on the season, for a two-game homestand beginning with Duquesne on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Live coverage will be available on NBC Sports Washington as well as ESPN+.
HOMECOMING AND HALL OF FAME CELEBRATIONS
Saturday marks the university's annual homecoming celebration coinciding with the Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Induction held on Friday night. Members of the class include men's basketball trailblazers Rocky Wright, who was the first Black basketball player at GW in 1963, and Garland Pinkston, who became GW's first Black student-athlete on a basketball scholarship in 1968.
Additionally, GW inducted the 1992-93 men's basketball team that advanced to the program's lone Sweet 16 and took Michigan's Fab Five to the brink. The team featured Sports Illustrated National Freshman of the Year Yinka Dare, Sonni Holland and Dirkk Surles, among others, and finished with a final record of 21-9.
EDWARDS ON A ROLL
First-year Maximus Edwards has reached double figures in six-consecutive games, averaging 14.8 ppg and 6.7 rpg during the stretch while shooting 54% from the field and 45% from deep. Edwards paces all A-10 rookies in scoring with 10.9 ppg, is second in rebounding with 6.0 boards per game and ranks third among qualifiers with his 46.5% field goal percentage.
Edwards is one of just five freshmen in the nation to average at least 10.9 ppg and 6.0 rpg while playing 30 minutes per game and the only first-year guard to be doing so. He is the first Colonial rookie to average at least 10.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg since all-time leading scorer Chris Monroe averaged 16.3 ppg and 6.8 rpg during his freshman campaign in 1999-00.

GW returns to the friendly confines at 22nd and G for a pair of critical A-10 home games against Duquesne and Richmond. The Buff & Blue are 9-3 on their home floor this season, including a 3-1 mark against A-10 foes.
GW's nine wins on its home court have already surpassed last year's total of eight and is the highest total for the program since going 12-5 in 2017-18. GW is averaging 77.8 ppg on its home floor, but more impressively is limiting opponents to 69.6 ppg and 41.8% shooting, compared to 80.9 ppg and 49.6% shooting in true road games.
A LOOK AT THE DUKES
Head Coach Keith Dambrot turned over the majority of his team from last season following a disappointing 6-24 (1-16) campaign. The Dukes are 340th in the country (out of 363 teams) in minutes continuity per KenPom, bringing in five transfers along with five freshmen to this year's team.
Miami (OH) transfer Dae Dae Grant paces Duquesne on the season with 15.4 ppg, but its been JuCo transfer Tre Clark who has carried the load in conference play with a team-high 14.7 ppg (12.7 ppg overall). RJ Gunn, one of just six returners from last year's team, also provides double figures with 10.3 ppg and is shooting a team-best 42.6% from beyond the arc.
The Dukes can light it up from beyond the arc, ranking second in the A-10 in 3-point percentage at 36.2% and 3s per game (8.7). Grant leads the conference with three 3s per game and is tops among qualifiers, shooting 41% from beyond the arc.
