Softball Selected Third in A-10 Preseason Poll

Buff and Blue opens season on February 10 at Upstate Classic
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW softball was projected to finish third in the Atlantic 10 in a preseason poll of the league's coaches, the league announced Wednesday.Â
Fordham was picked to finish at the top of the A-10 with 95 points and six of ten first-place votes. Saint Joseph's was picked second with 77 points and one first-place vote, followed by the Colonials in third with 74 points and one first-place vote. Dayton received the final first-place vote and was picked to finish fourth with 70 points.
GW returns 12 letterwinners from its 2022 Regular Season Championship season while adding six first-years and one transfer to the roster. Notable returners include reigning A-10 Player of the Year Alexa Williams, along with graduate utility Mia Parker and senior utility Maggie Greco, among others.Â
Chrissy Schoonmaker returns for her second season skippering the Buff and Blue. Schoonmaker led GW to 36 wins in her first season, including a 21-3 conference record and an A-10 Regular Season Championship.
The Colonials open up the season on Friday, February 10 with back-to-back games against Bucknell and Maine at the Upstate Classic, hosted by USC Upstate.Â
