HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team could build a significant lead in the first set. The largest advantage either team could amount was three. At the 18-15 mark, GW trailed the Billikens but managed to lock in when it mattered most, going on a 10-5 run to close out a 25-23 win in the opening set.
- Set two featured the same back-and-forth action that the first set displayed. Despite GW holding a slim advantage for much of the frame, the Billikens were able to even the match at one apiece with a 25-22 win.
- In set three, GW strung together multiple runs to open leads of 15-10, 19-15 and 21-16. Despite the visitors' advantage, Saint Louis wouldn't go away, threatening down the stretch to make a run at the Revolutionaries. GW thwarted the potential comeback bid off a set-sealing kill from Brown, delivering GW the 25-22 win.
- Set four was controlled by Saint Louis as it built a lead of 18-13 late in the frame. GW attempted the late comeback, trimming the lead down to three at 23-20, but it wasn't enough as the Billikens forced a fifth set.
- In the final frame, GW held a slim 5-3 lead early on. Saint Louis proceeded to use a 4-1 run to jump out to a 10-8 advantage of its own. Both teams traded points down the stretch but it wasn't enough for GW as the Billikens held on for a 15-12 win.
