Edwards Named A-10 Rookie of the Week for Second Time

Redshirt freshman enjoyed career day on Saturday vs. Saint Louis
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW men's basketball redshirt freshman Maximus Edwards was named the A-10's Rookie of the Week following his career-best showing on Saturday vs. Saint Louis.
This is the second Rookie of the Week honor for Edwards, who also garnered the accolade on Dec. 19. He's the first Colonial rookie to earn multiple weekly accolades since Jameer Nelson, Jr., in 2019-20.
Edwards poured in a career-high 24 points with five rebounds in GW's lone contest of the week vs. the Billikens. The Stratford, Conn., native also established career-bests in field goals (9) and 3-pointers made (3), scoring 15 of his 24 points after intermission to aid the Buff & Blue's comeback attempt.
Edwards has lived up to the billing as one of the top newcomers in the conference this season. Entering Monday's contest at George Mason, Edwards leads all A-10 rookies in scoring with 10.2 ppg and is second among league freshmen (first among guards) with 5.7 rebounds per game. His 29.8 minutes per game also ranks third among league rookies this season.
