Gymnastics Finishes Second at Lindsey Ferris Invitational

Whitman crowned floor champion with a 9.925
WASHINGTON – GW gymnastics posted its highest season-opening score since 2017 in a second-place finish at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational on Sunday with a 195.300. Nebraska took home the top spot with 196.150 and Cornell and William & Mary rounded out the four-team field with 189.900 and 188.575, respectively.
GW's 195.300 came behind 49.050 on vault, a 48.800 on bars, a 48.400 on beam and 49.050 on floor.
Kendall Whitman was named the floor champion this afternoon with a 9.925. Deja Chambliss earned co-champion on vault with a 9.900 and Libby Garfoot tied for first on bars with a 9.850.
Deana Sheremeta made her GW debut on beam and floor, posting a 9.825 and a 9.850, respectively. Marlee York competed in the all-around for the first time in her GW career, finishing third overall with a 38.825. Deja Chambliss finished fourth in the all-around with a 38.775. Anneliese Silverman also competed in all four events for the first time in her career, finishing fifth with a 38.575.
ROTATION ONE
Chambliss' 9.900 led GW on vault in rotation one, with Whitman adding a 9.825 to the lineup. Rachel Katz posted a 9.800, Sarah Zois recorded a 9.775, Silverman scored a 9.750 and York finished GW's vault lineup with a 9.700.
ROTATION TWO
GW headed to bars for rotation two, led by Garfoot's 9.850. Chambliss and Katz added a pair of 9.775s and Silverman and York posted 9.700s. Hannah Munnelly scored a 9.425.
ROTATION THREE
Sheremeta led GW's beam lineup in her collegiate debut with a 9.825 and Sarah Zois added a 9.725. Katz scored a 9.675 and York added a 9.625. Silverman registered a 9.550 and Chambliss rounded out rotation three with a 9.200.
ROTATION FOUR
Whitman's 9.925 led the floor lineup, followed by Chambliss' 9.900. Sheremeta added a 9.850 and York posted a 9.800. Silverman registered a 9.575 and Payton Lynch finished GW's day on floor with a 9.100.
