Cross Country Back in Action at Paul Short Run

GW heads to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in one of the world's largest cross country competitions
WASHINGTON - GW cross country will lace up its running shoes again on Friday when it travels to Lehigh University for the 48th Annual Paul Short Run. The men's events will begin at 11:00 a.m., while the women's competition gets underway at 1:00 p.m..
THE RACE: Friday will mark the second-straight season and seventh time in the last eight years that GW will compete in The Paul Short Run. The only year since 2015 that the Buff & Blue did not race in Bethlehem, Pa. was 2020, when the event was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Traditionally, The Paul Short Run is one of the largest cross country events in the world with a total of 3,692 college entries spread over 286 teams. This year's field will include several A-10 teams, including George Mason, Richmond and Dayton, as well as national competitors like Penn, Duke, Princeton and UNC.
A-10 RECOGNITION: Following its last competition at the Indiana Coaching Tree Invitational, GW's women's cross country earned its first A-10 weekly award of the season. First-year Sarah Mitchell was named A-10 Rookie Performer of the Week after finishing the women's 6k in a time of 22:02.3. Mitchell, who was competing in just her second collegiate race, finished first among all A-10 rookies in the event.
