Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to Loyola Chicago

Bowman reaches new career milestone
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball went the distance with Loyola Chicago on Saturday but fell in the five-set showdown, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, 13-25, 13-15.

Graduate libero Bella Bowman reached a new career milestone on Saturday, tying for second all-time with 1,682 digs. Bowman recorded 20 digs on Saturday and 29 digs over the weekend to reach the milestone. The Louisville, Ky., native cracked the program's top-10 last season.
Liv Womble led GW's offense with 17 kills with just three errors to hit with .424 efficiency. Elizabeth Drelling added eight kills and Addie Feek, MC Daubendiek and Brittany Myers each chipped in seven. Grace Allread tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 24 assists and 16 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
An early five-point scoring run by the Ramblers led to a 6-3 visitor advantage. GW chipped away at the Rambler lead and cut the deficit to two at 18-20, but Loyola Chicago tallied kills on four of their final six points to take the opening set.
Despite falling into a 7-2 deficit to open the second set, GW hit its stride midway through the second frame, boosted by four three-point scoring runs, including the final three points to even the match at one set apiece.
GW and Loyola Chicago both registered 14 kills in set three, but the Buff & Blue were more efficient on the attack, out-hitting their opponent .262 to .111 to take a 2-1 set advantage.
The Ramblers stormed back in set four, tallying 17 kills on .371 efficiency to outlast GW 25-13, the largest margin of victory in the match.
After opening the fifth set with a pair of ties, Loyola Chicago took control at 4-3 and never looked back. The Ramblers put down 10 kills to earn the five-set victory.
