Cross Country in Action at Two Meets This Weekend

The Buff & Blue will compete in both the Navy Invitational and Indiana Coaching Tree Invitational on Friday
WASHINGTON - The George Washington cross country team will split up for a pair of meets this Friday. The action will take place throughout the day, with GW competing at the Navy Invitational at the United States Naval Academy and the Indiana Coaching Tree Invitational at Indiana University.
LAST TIME OUT:
George Washington cross country began its 2022 season in strong fashion by taking victories in both the men's and women's races of the inaugural Battle of the Georges against George Mason.
On the women's side, grad student Yukino Parle finished first in a time of 20:27.9 in the 5K race. Additionally, the women occupied each of the top four spots in the 5K.
Meanwhile, for the men, Ryan Fowkes finished in second place in the 7.7K with a time of 24:30.9. The men also took home seven of the top 10 finishes.
ABOUT THE COMPETITIONS:
The Indiana Coaching Tree Invitational will kick things off early on Friday, with the women's 6K getting underway at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 8K starting at 10:45 a.m. George Washington will compete against a slew of other schools, including Georgetown, Columbia, Vanderbilt, Villanova, and the host, Indiana, among others.
Meanwhile, the Navy Invitational will get underway from Annapolis, Md. at 6 p.m. The GW women will kick things with a 6K, followed by the men's 8K getting underway at 6:30 p.m. The competition will include Navy, Maryland, UMBC and Richmond, among others.
REGIONAL RANKING:
Both the men's and women's program found themselves ranked in the first regular season USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic regional rankings following the first week of meets.
The women's team slotted into the ninth spot in the first regular season rankings of the year, while the men's program came in at 14th.
