
Gymnastics Crowned 2022 EAGL Champions

Chambliss earns two event titles
WASHINGTON – On podium in its home venue, GW gymnastics was crowned the 2022 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Champions on Saturday night. GW posted its second-straight 196.325 to finish first among all eight competing EAGL teams. It's the third time since joining the EAGL conference that GW has won and the first time since 2017.
GW's first-place score came behind event scores of 49.075 on vault, 49.075 on bars, 48.900 on beam and 49.275 on floor.
Deja Chambliss earned a pair of event titles after matching her career-high on floor with a 9.950 and posting a 9.875 on vault. Chambliss finished second in the all-around with a 39.475. The graduate student was also named EAGL Gymnast of the Year.
With the No. 1 finish coming down to the final rotation, GW finished its night with a strong performance on bars, with all five counted scores at or above the 9.800 mark, helping the Buff & Blue to the top of the podium.
Rachel Katz posted a career-high on vault with a 9.850, tying her for second overall alongside Kendall Whitman.
ROTATION ONE
GW began the evening on beam led by Anneliese Silverman and Chambliss with 9.850s. Sarah Zois earned a 9.800, while Katherine Shek and Olivia Raymond added 9.700s. Whitman finished the beam lineup with a 9.425.
ROTATION TWO
GW moved to floor for its second rotation led by Chambliss' 9.950. Kendall Whitman posted a 9.875 and Payton Lynch added 9.850. Olivia Zona and Raymond added 9.800s and Marlee York rounded out the floor line up with a 9.775.
ROTATION THREE
The Buff & Blue took to vault for rotation three, with Chambliss leading with a 9.875. Rachel Katz and Whitman added 9.850s, a career-high matching score for Katz. York posted a 9.800, Hannah Munnelly added a 9.700 and Zois registered a 9.650.
