CELEBRATING THE SENIOR CLASS: GW honors its five seniors on Wednesday: Miles Gally, Amir Harris, Bryan Knapp, Ricky Lindo Jr. and Theofanis Stamoulis. A unique group, only Gally and Harris have been with the program since Jamion Christian's first season. Gally joined the program as walk-ons as did Knapp, before he earned a scholarship for this spring semester. Stamoulis was a team manager last year before earning a walk-on spot this season. Harris and Lindo began their careers elsewhere before returning to the DMV.
HOME SWEET HOME: GW wraps up its home slate Wednesday having gone 7-5 at the Smith Center. The Colonials have already secured their first winning home record since 2017-18 (12-5). The four A-10 home wins are also the most for the program since earning six in 2017-18.
The Buff & Blue have averaged five more points per game at home (69.3) than on the road (64.5), headlined by Joe Bamisile, who has averaged 18.1 ppg and 6.0 rpg on the Smith Center floor this year. GW has also committed 2.1 fewer turnovers per game at home and holds a +2.1 turnover margin compared to -0.5 on the road.
CLAMPING DOWN FROM DEEP: GW held Mason to 5-of-25 (20.0%) shooting from beyond the arc on Sunday, continuing a season-long trend of strong 3-point defense. The Buff & Blue enter play having held opponents to 30.7% from deep, 45th in the nation and third in the A-10. Sunday was the 13th time this season the Colonials have held their opponent below 30% from beyond the arc.
A LOOK AT THE DUKES: Duquesne, the sixth-least experienced team in the country, enters play on Wednesday having dropped 14 consecutive A-10 games after opening conference play with a victory over UMass. The Dukes have lost each of their last seven games by double digits, including a 70-54 loss at Rhode Island on Saturday.
Primo Spears leads a quartet of Dukes who average between 10 and 11 points per game with 10.8 ppg. Tre Williams also averages 10.8 per game, but is out for the remainder of the year with an injury. Kevin Easley (10.4 ppg) and Leon Ayers III (10.0) round out the double-figure scorers. Williams led the Dukes with 18 points in the first matchup, a 73-52 GW victory, while Spears had 15.
