Gymnastics Returns Home for Annual Pink Meet

GW to host LIU, Eastern Michigan and Kent State
WASHINGTON - George Washington gymnastics will host its annual Pink Meet on Sunday, welcoming LIU, Eastern Michigan and Kent State to the Charles E. Smith Center for a 1 p.m. start.
LAST TIME OUT: On Wednesday at Towson, GW posted a pair of season-highs on floor and beam, helping the squad to a 194.750 and a second-place finish in the tri-meet with William & Mary.
BEAM TEAM: GW's 49.025 on beam at Towson marked the first time this season that the team scored above the 49.000 mark on the event. Five gymnasts earned career- or season-highs on beam, with Sarah Zois and Katherine Shek leading the Buff & Blue with a pair of 9.825s.
THE WHITMAN WAY: Kendall Whitman hit her stride on Wednesday night, earning season-highs on all three events in which she competed. Starting her night on beam, the Pottstown, Pa., native registered a 9.775. Moving on to floor, Whitman posted a team-leading 9.900, earning the top spot on the floor podium. On vault, Whitman posted her third-straight 9.800 to tie for third overall.
A LOOK AT LIU: After its inaugural season and joining EAGL in 2021, LIU earned its first win as a program earlier this year at home vs. Yale. A week after its win, sophomore Mara Titarsolej earned the Sharks' first-ever EAGL weekly honor after her first-place 9.925 on bars in a dual meet with Temple. LIU ranks 53rd according to Road to Nationals, averaging 192.881.
EYES ON EASTERN MICHIGAN: Eastern Michigan (3-2-1, 1-1 MAC) sits at No. 47 in the country, averaging 194.150. EMU travels to the District after tying for second in its most recent quad meet with Ball State, Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
KEEPING UP WITH KENT STATE: Currently undefeated and second in the MAC, Kent State is 28th in the nation, averaging 195.242. The Flashes' came out on top over Northern Illinois in their season opener and then went on the road to beat Ball State. Most recently. Kent State hit a season-high 195.550 to top Cornell and Rutgers in a quad meet at home on Jan. 28.
ROAD AHEAD: GW will head to No. 2 Oklahoma on Feb. 11 for a dual meet with the Sooners. March outs from Norman, Okla. are set for 7:45 p.m. (EST).
