First pitch between at Tucker Field is scheduled for 2:30 on Tuesday
WASHINGTON- Following back-to-back series down South to start the season, George Washington baseball returns to Barcroft Park on Tuesday for its first home game of 2022. The Colonials will welcome the Towson Tigers for a 2:30 p.m. matinee, with live coverage available on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT:
GW continued its season-opening road swing with a three-game set at South Carolina. The Gamecocks bats dominated the three-game set, scoring 28 runs over the weekend en route to a series sweep.
NEW KIDS ON CAMPUS:
Through the first two series of the season, GW's offense has been led by a pair of newcomers in grad student Michael Ludowig, a transfer from Wake Forest, and first-year Tim Nicholson. Both players are tied for the team lead in hits (7) and stolen bases (2), while Ludowig is first on the Colonials in OPS (.875) and slugging (.500), and Nicholson is second on the team in RBIs (2).
ABOUT THE TIGERS:
Towson is 2-6, but has faced some stiff competition to start the year, including No. 25 Miami and SEC power LSU. Towson enters this year looking to build off of a 2021 campaign that saw the team return to the CAA tournament for the first time since 2013. Towson's offense is led by redshirt sophomore Danny Baccera, who was named Preseason CAA All-Conference by Perfect Game USA. The Tigers' top pitcher is senior Nick Janowicz, who was selected as Preseason Honorable Mention All-CA
