Baseball Selected Seventh in Preseason Poll

Colonials welcome back 18 student-athletes for 2022
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW baseball was projected to finish seventh in the Altantic 10 in a preseason poll of the league's coaches, it was announced on Thursday.
The Colonials return 14Â letterwinners from last year's team to go along with 18 newcomers to the Buff & Blue. GW finished last season at 26-18, including an 18-11 mark at Tucker Field.Â
Head coach Gregg Ritchie returns for his 10th season at his alma mater, and continues his march towards becoming the program's all-time wins leader. Ritchie enters 2022 with 229 career wins, just 46 wins shy of Tom Walter's all-time record of 275.Â
This year's schedule is built with a strong balance of home games, featuring 15 contests taking place at Tucker Field in the first seven weeks, and an additional 13 home games rounding out the final stretch of GW's season, including 12 in A-10 play.
The Colonials will open the campaign at UTRGV next Friday, Feb. 18, and will host their home opener at the Tuck on Tuesday, March 1, when they welcome the Towson Tigers to town.
