WASHINGTON – The GW gymnastics team is set to head back out on the road this week with a trip to Norman, Okla., for a dual meet with No. 2 Oklahoma on Friday at 7:45 p.m. (EST).
LAST TIME OUT: GW competed in two meets last week, first visiting Towson for a midweek tri-meet with the Tigers and William & Mary, before returning home for its annual Pink Meet on Sunday. The Buff & Blue capped off their week with a season-high 196.025 in their first-place finish at the quad meet with Kent State, Eastern Michigan and LIU.
RAISING THE BAR: GW recorded three 49.000+ event scores on Sunday to earn its first 196.000+ of the season, and first since March 17, 2019. GW also earned a season-best 49.250 on vault, with all six gymnasts in the lineup earning a season or career-high. The Buff & Blue posted a 49.125 on floor, led by Olivia Raymond's career-high 9.875.
CAN'T STOP CHAMBLISS: Chambliss enters Friday as the reigning EAGL Gymnast of the Week after a career-best performance on Sunday, which included her third all-around title of the season. Chambliss broke into the program's all-time record book with a 9.950 on vault, the first GW gymnast to do so since Chelsea Raineri and Cami Drouin-Allaire earned the perfect score in 2015. Chambliss currently leads the league in the all-around, averaging a 39.181, and is 36th on vault among all Division I gymnasts with a 9.865 average.
SCOUTING THE SOONERS: For the second-straight week, the No. 2 Sooners swept the Big 12 weekly honors after posting their second-straight mark of 198-plus on Sunday.
