Edwards Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

Redshirt freshman became first Colonial rookie since 2020 with double-double
WASHINGTON -Â GW men's basketball redshirt freshman Maximus Edwards was named A-10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Edwards had a breakout performance in the Colonials' victory over Coppin State last week, posting 16 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes off the bench. Edwards made 7-of-13 from the field and grabbed five of his career-high 12 boards on the offensive end.
In the process, Edwards became the first GW rookie since January 2020 to notch a double-double. He's also the first member of the Buff & Blue overall to post a line of 15+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists since at least 2010.
Through his first 10 collegiate games, Edwards is averaging 8.9 ppg and 6.1 rpg while shooting 46% from the floor and 36% from beyond the arc. He is third among A-10 rookies in scoring and second among freshmen guards nationally in rebounding.
Edwards and the Colonials now have their sights set on this week's Diamond Head Classic beginning on Thursday. GW takes on Washington State in the opener at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.
